Story by Caroline M

My name is Caroline, I began my Hilton Care journey eight years ago in 2016.

Previously I had worked as a telephonist/receptionist and worked in community care in a care home, caring for the elderly. My new job role as a support worker was very different to anything I’d ever done before.

I began working at XX in X. I supported nine Tenants, each with their own flat and individual needs. Some of their needs were quite challenging but with time and understanding I got to know the nine different personalities and I really started to enjoy my Job.

We would arrange communal activities, BBQs, days out, bingo, arts ‘n crafts, birthday parties, communal Sunday dinners and lots more.

There is always lots to do – shopping, housework, cooking, baking, never a dull moment. Taking Tenants on holidays too!

During this time I became a Senior Support Worker and even won Senior Support Worker of the year.

I felt proud and privileged as I looked forward to going to work every day, and it was more than just a job to me.

After working at XX for five years, I was offered a fantastic opportunity to work at a brand new service, called XXX, which was just opening in April 2021 in XXXX. This service has now been up and running for over three years. We support three ladies in a supported living house. We have joint activities and one-to-one hours with them too.

We support the ladies to go to the gym, swimming, social clubs, gardening, pamper evenings, dancing, singing group, coffee mornings at the church and everyday tasks and appointments.

XXX is a happy house. It’s lovely to see the Tenants we support enjoying life and being able to live as independently as possible.

I look forward to the future, continuing to work for Hilton Care and continuing to make a difference to the Tenants lives.
