Can I meet the staff before I move into my new home?
We will support you choose the staff that will be supporting you.
- The staff will work with you before you move to your new home so that you can get to know each other. This helps us to ensure that they are the right staff for you.
What will the staff be like?
Hilton Care staff are friendly, well trained and professional. They will be able to assist you in moving into your new home and then support you to live a full life.
Will you help me go to my college or work?
Hilton Care staff will support you to do whatever you want, so if you choose to continue to go to college staff will support you to attend. If you would like to try something different or maybe get a job staff will be able to support you to do this too.
Will any doors be locked?
It is your house so you will be supported to lock any doors which need to be secured, like your front door.
- You will have a key to your own bedroom, so you can choose whether you would like to lock it when you are not in there.
Will the staff be good at cooking?
You will choose what to buy when you go shopping. The staff will help you to prepare and cook your meals so that you will get better at cooking!
Can only female staff support me?
It is your choice about the support you get and who you receive it from. If you decide that you want only female staff for some parts or all of your support then you can state this in your Care and Support Plan.
I want the bedroom closet to the living room, is this OK?
You will need to discuss this with the other people you are going to be living with.
- Staff will support all of you to visit before you move in so that you can decide between you which rooms you have. At this time you can tell the others that you would like to have the bedroom nearest to the living room.
Will there always be staff at the house?
- At first, when you are in your house there will always be staff present to support you. However, we hope that as you become more independent you can spend more time without support. This is all part of taking informed risks.
Is there going to be a telephone?
If you want a telephone in your house then the answer is YES! Staff will support you to buy a telephone, set up an account and pay the phone bill.
- As it is your phone you will be supported to answer it

- You will probably have many more questions to ask when you have moved in. Hilton Care staff will be there to support and help you with all these questions. You will make the decisions about your home – AT YOUR OWN PACE – and we will then support you as much as you require it.
